About the position

  • Base salary of $110,422 per annum plus 30% commuted allowance

The Indian Ocean Territories Administration (IOTA) is currently seeking motivated, professional and suitably qualified persons to join our team as a Senior Registered Nurse Level 1 (SRN1) within the Indian Ocean Territories Health Service (IOTHS) based on Cocos (Keeling) Islands for a 12-month fixed-term engagement.

About the Role

As a Senior Registered Nurse, you will deliver high quality and comprehensive nursing and emergency care and manage complex nursing cases in a rural and remote setting. In addition, the Senior Registered Nurse position will be a professional role model, resource and support for colleagues.

You will also independently manage a variety of health portfolios, such as health promotion, workplace health and safety, school health, chronic disease, infection control, and the like.

About You

We are looking for someone that:

  • Is able to work autonomously and collaboratively to deliver high quality and comprehensive primary, preventative and emergency care.
  • Is able to manage complex nursing cases in a remote setting, with medical telephone support until a doctor can be present.
  • Is highly motivated, adaptable and willing to be actively involved in health promotion activities.
  • Is experienced in independently managing one or more health portfolios, and in adult and pediatric emergency presentations.
  • Is willing to participate in an on-call roster outside of Health Service Clinic hours on both Home Island and West Island.
  • Is professional in their conduct, who demonstrates integrity and awareness of cultural sensitivities.
  • Is aware of and adheres to the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.

 

Nurses with Post graduate qualifications in Midwifery and/or a demonstrated ability to work effectively with people in small/remote and/or regional contexts, in a multicultural environment will be well regarded.

Eligibility

  • AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Valid Class C Driver’s License (transferable to the IOTs).
  • Post graduate qualifications in Immunisation and Pharmacotherapeutics.
  • Valid Western Australian Working with Children Check.

 

The successful candidate will undergo a pre-employment medical assessment in line with IOTHS requirements, and be required to complete a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
