Our multidisciplinary team delivers compassionate, person-centred mental health care through both in-community and outreach services. The Role:
As part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Clinical Nurse Consultant – Older Persons Mental Health Service:
- Is a clinical expert in the area of practice and acts as a clinical resource for nursing, medical and allied health staff in the management of consumers with complex mental health needs, working with other members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care within the designated area of practice.
- Provides consultation liaison across North West Regional Hospital and other inpatient units as appropriate.
- As a senior clinician within the Older Persons Community Mental Health team, provide clinical expertise and care across OPMHS including triage services and case management duties (as required).
You will need:
- Sound knowledge of adult and older persons’ community-based mental health and mental health consultation-liaison services in acute hospital settings, comorbidities, and available healthcare and psychosocial supports, or ability to acquire quickly.
- Effectively manage time and resources, prioritising clinical and administrative tasks while applying risk management, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice. Skilled in independent and collaborative decision-making, leading change initiatives, and implementing best-practice standards in complex clinical environments.
- Possess advanced written and oral communication, liaison, interpersonal, and counselling skills, functioning confidently within a multidisciplinary team environment and negotiating recommendations for patient care across a wide range of stakeholder groups.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of up to twelve (12) months.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $118,297 to $125,543 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse by the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses or equivalent

Holds, or is working towards, relevant tertiary qualifications

Relevant experience and certification in Non-violent Crisis Intervention such as MAYBO
