About the position

The Opportunity:
Join our team as a FIFO Mental Health Nurse delivering specialist mental health services across the Ngaanyatjarra Lands. In this rewarding role, you will provide assessment, intervention, case management and crisis support for people experiencing moderate to severe mental illness, while working closely with Nurses, Medical Officers, Psychiatrists and local communities.

You’ll also play a key role in mentoring clinicians, coordinating visiting psychiatrist clinics and contributing to the ongoing development of culturally safe mental health services that make a genuine difference in remote Aboriginal communities.

About You:
You are an experienced Mental Health Nurse who is passionate about improving the wellbeing of Aboriginal people living in remote communities. You thrive working autonomously while building strong relationships with clients, colleagues and community stakeholders.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health and/or credentialing with ACMHN, or significant mental health nursing experience.
  • Experience working within a remote Aboriginal health service (highly regarded).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate client care in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a culturally safe and respectful manner.
  • Experience delivering mental health education and health promotion programs in community settings.
  • Sound knowledge of the WA Mental Health Act 2014 and its application in clinical practice.
  • Strong administrative and digital skills, including proficiency with electronic clinical information systems.
  • A current manual WA Driver’s Licence (or ability to obtain), National Police Clearance and WA Working with Children Check.
  • The ability to travel regularly to remote communities by 4WD and light aircraft.
