Make a real difference—where it matters most

Are you a passionate mental health clinician ready to take your skills into a rural and regional setting where your impact is truly felt?

We’re looking for a dedicated clinician to join our Community Mental Health team in Charters Towers, supporting individuals with complex mental health needs.

Why this role is different

This is more than a clinical role—it’s an opportunity to practise autonomous, relationship-focused care in a regional service where no two days are the same and your clinical judgement is highly valued.

From intake and triage through to ongoing care and consultation within local hospitals and emergency departments, you’ll gain exposure to a broad, rewarding scope of practice while making a tangible difference.

What you’ll be doing

  • Delivering evidence-based mental health assessment and treatment
  • Providing case management and coordinating care for complex presentations
  • Supporting consumers across the lifespan in community and clinical settings
  • Contributing to intake, triage, and crisis response
  • Providing consultation to the local hospitals and emergency departments
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Why join Townsville Hospital and Health Service?

You’ll be part of one of the largest health services in northern Australia, with access to:

  • Strong clinical leadership and multidisciplinary support
  • Ongoing professional development, supervision, and education
  • Opportunities to grow your career within a large and diverse health service
  • A commitment to culturally safe, person-centred care

Located just 1.5 hours from Townsville, you’ll have easy access to coastal living, major amenities, and travel options—allowing you to balance career progression with lifestyle and wellbeing.

What you’ll bring

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Experience or strong interest in mental health nursing
  • A commitment to recovery-oriented, consumer-centred care
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a regional setting

  • Competitive salary + 12.75% super
  • 17.5% recreational leave loading
  • Professional development allowance + leave
  • Flexible working arrangements (where possible)
