About the Opportunities
Nganampa Health Council is seeking clinic-based Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives (dual registration required) to join their dedicated teams in South Australia.
We welcome applications for both Permanent Full-time and Locum contract positions.
In these highly varied roles, you will deliver primary healthcare under the CARPA Standard Treatment Manual and assist in the early detection and management of chronic illness as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Working under the direction of the Medical Director and Clinical Service Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with medical officers, program staff, Anangu staff, and other health personnel to provide primary healthcare
- Treating acute illnesses and chronic medical conditions
- Managing computerised recalls and conducting patient follow-up care
- Child health monitoring and immunisations
- Administering vaccinations across all age groups
- Delivering patient health education
- Assessing and referring social welfare issues
- Conducting public health screenings for communicable diseases, including STIs, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis A, B & C
- Managing antenatal and postnatal care
- Performing day-to-day clinic administration tasks

Who we’re looking for
Are you an RN or RN-Midwife, passionate about equal quality care for all?
Our ideal candidates will:
- Be a Registered Nurse or a dual RN & Registered Midwife, registered with the National Board of Nursing and Midwifery
- Have at least 3 years of post-graduation work experience, with recent acute medical/A&E exposure or experience in remote work
- Hold post graduate qualifications in emergency care, advanced nursing, or rural/remote area nursing (desirable but not essential)
- Be highly computer literate, as health records are fully digital
- Be excited to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Display strong cultural awareness and respect
You will communicate and participate effectively within a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary health team and have a demonstrated understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal health.
Midwives must have significant experience in acute general work within the past 5 years.
About the roles
These positions are based in busy community clinics that are open from 9 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday. Nurses do provide an after-hours on-call service, and you will require advanced nursing clinical skills including excellent clinical assessment skills and confidence in managing diversity in presentations – trauma, acute and chronic medical conditions – across all age groups.
Nganampa Health Council is seeking adaptable and flexible individuals who can display the initiative, discretion and cultural sensitivity needed to support and drive the organisation’s objectives and values.
The ability to work under Aboriginal management and control will be highly regarded, as will a demonstrated understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal health, the principles of Primary Health Care and relevant legislation. No two days will be the same and as a result, highly resourceful candidates will thrive here!
Please note: Successful candidates must undergo a Police Check and a Working With Children Check. A manual driver’s licence is essential, and familiarity with 4WD vehicles is advantageous (4WD training is provided during orientation).

Your dedication will be rewarded with a total annual salary package, exclusive of superannuation, of $194,415 – $213,725 (commensurate with remote experience), including non-cash benefits of $13,000 and tax savings of approximately $19,278.
