Advanced Life Support Online (ALS OL)

As health practitioners take on expanding responsibilities, they must possess strong knowledge and practical skills in managing clinical deterioration during life-threatening emergencies. In remote and rural settings, this role often includes initiating and sustaining Advanced Life Support (ALS) measures to ensure the best possible outcomes.

What is the course about?

Grounded in ANZCOR guidelines and current best practice, the Advanced Life Support (ALS OL) online course empowers remote clinicians with the essential skills to safely and effectively manage cardiac arrest in real-world settings.

Using a structured, scenario-based approach, you will:

Deepen your understanding of cardiac arrest management in resource-limited environments
Apply critical thinking to high-pressure situations

Whether you’re preparing for the unexpected or refining your response strategy, this course ensures you’re equipped to lead with clarity and competence when every second counts. All content is aligned to the National Rural and Remote Nursing Generalist Framework Capabilities.

Who is the course for?

All health professionals who have previously completed a face-to-face ALS course. *The online format is not suitable for clinicians new to ALS.

Why do the course?

Clinicians wishing to renew their ALS but cannot attend a face-to-face ALS course.

What will you learn?

1. Apply advanced life support assessment and management skills to practice in remote settings.
2. Analyse the signs of clinical deterioration for early identification and management of the critically ill in remote settings
3. Critically reflect on the knowledge and skills required to provide culturally safe advanced life support in a remote setting.
