Other Quality Assurance Issues for Remote Area Health
Establish a quality assurance process which will develop and/or monitor credentialing of RAN practice, use of RAN competencies, skills maintenance for remote area health professionals, and remote area health standards.
First Line Emergency Care program
Provision of a multi-disciplinary national first line emergency care courses specifically designed by CRANAplus for remote practitioners. Officially launched in March 1998, the course is delivered onsite in rural and remote centres all over Australia. The program began with the Remote Emergency Care course and we have since added the Maternity Emergency Care course.
Bush Crisis Line & Support Services
A multi-disciplinary Freecall 1800 24hr a day service available to all remote health practitioners and their families. Officially launched in September 1997, the service cam about as a result of needs identified by all remote areas health practitioners.
Information Flow
To strengthen the CRANAplus network to ensure a basic level of practical information is available for all existing and potential remote area nurses as well as remote area communities and other employer groups. Continue to organise an Annual Conference, and compile bi-monthly Newsletters, Forums, develop a comprehensive library of Position Papers and maintain Web Site.
Legislation
CRANAplus will make available expertise to all States and Territories to assist AHMAC to operationalise and monitor the implementation process of the draft legislative changes proposed for RAN practice through the collaborative work of the Commonwealth Department of Human Services and Health, the Australian Nursing Council, the Australian Nursing Federation and CRANAplus.
Research
Promote quality practical action research which will contribute to the responsibility for the delivery of continued development and assessment of the advanced nursing components of the Remote Health Practice program to post graduate nursing students and improve capacity for research and analysis for remote health issues.
National Coordination
Maintain our national CRANAplus office which will impliment the outlined strategies.
